How To Make Money On YouTube (13 Profitable Ideas)

 In Uncategorized

Many people make a living with a YouTube channel. A few even earn a lot more than you can imagine.

In this article, I’ll share some of the best strategies that top YouTubers use to make money on YouTube, and show you how you can do the same, even on a smaller scale.

How to make money on YouTube  ?

1) Join the YouTube Partner Program

It is the most common way for people to make money on YouTube.

The concept is really quite simple.

You authorize YouTube to serve ads before, during or after your videos. You can choose what type of ad placement you’re comfortable with, hit a few buttons, and Google does the rest.

Once set up, Google will show ads on your videos, and every time someone sees (or clicks) those ads, you and YouTube share the fees Google charges the advertiser. The split is 45% for YouTube and 55% for the creator.

For example,  let’s say you have a YouTube vlogging channel and halfway through one of your videos there’s a Netflix commercial playing that talks about their latest and greatest Netflix original series.

To simplify the calculations, we’ll assume that Netflix is willing to pay $ 1 for this placement on your video.

Once this Netflix ad is shown to the viewer, Google will take $ 0.45 and you will earn $ 0.55 on your partner account.

It doesn’t sound like a lot of money, but when you get thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of views a day, you may be amazed.

How to start

Step 1: Create a YouTube channel

It’s safe to say that in order to get YouTube views, you’ll need a channel to get started. YouTube shows you how to do  this on this page  , but I’ve also embedded a video below to help you out.

To be honest, this is the hard part of any YouTube channel because when you first start out, someone is unlikely to see your videos.

But I promise you  it won’t happen forever.

As long as you keep creating content that your audience will enjoy, YouTube will eventually start recommending your videos to people and they will start subscribing to you.

Step 3: complete the YouTube Partner Program eligibility requirements

As YouTube let just about any channel join their program right after launch, people started to abuse the system and so YouTube had to change things to make sure the channels were legitimate.

This ultimately created the  eligibility requirements for the YouTube Partner Program .

The minimum eligibility requirements to join the YouTube Partner Program are simple:

  • Your channel must have  viewed  at least  4,000 hours of video in the past 12 months  before you can apply to monetize your videos.
  • You should also have  over 1,000 subscribers  to your channel.
  • You must be  at least 18 years old  to apply to join the YouTube Partner Program.

There is no specified time frame for meeting these requirements, and once you meet them, you can start making money from the various YouTube monetization features on your channel.

Step 4: Set up an AdSense account   to get paid on YouTube

Once you have fulfilled the eligibility requirements, you can then  apply for an Adsense account . This will ultimately be how you make money from ads, so take your time to answer everything correctly. You can create the account and validate it even before your channel is eligible.

Step 5: Keep creating content and don’t violate YouTube guidelines

Once your channel grows and you earn money, the sky is the limit for your channel. That said, it is very important that you do not violate any of the YouTube community guidelines regarding spam / deception, sensitive content, violent / dangerous content, misinformation, or regulated products. You can read all about  their guidelines here  .

Bonus:  How To Maximize Your Income With YouTube Advertising Revenue

  • Manually insert ads when possible: I do this when I have some sort of cliffhanger. In other words, I start a sentence and then play the ad in the middle of the sentence because the user REALLY wants to hear the rest.

  • Keep your channel advertiser friendly: In your videos, don’t swear or say really controversial things that advertisers don’t want to be a part of. Remember, you make money when advertisers advertise. Content suitable for advertisers is extremely important to achieve this goal.
  • Make as many videos as possible: YouTube is ultimately a numbers game and the number of views is the most important factor for success. People don’t like to hear it, but it’s 100% true. The more videos you post, the more likely you are to be successful due to the number of video views your channel will get.
  • For most big YouTubers, ad revenue is the most passive way to make money. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to monetizing YouTube.

2) Create a blog to compliment YouTube

YouTube is great for building your brand if you want to build fans, generate lots of conversions, and increase revenue for your business.

Not only that, but as the second largest search engine, YouTube offers immense opportunities to position your brand in front of your ideal audience and grow your audience in other areas as well.

How do I know this? Because as a marketer that’s one of the things I’ve done to grow the blog you’re reading right now.

The screenshot above shows you how many visitors I received on my blog in the  last month alone.  As you can see, 6,924 additional visitors in a single month are not to be sneezed at.

But what’s most important to understand is  that a blog will almost always win a YouTube channel  because it’s a platform that allows you to connect with your audience on a deeper and more personal level, like by e-mail, etc.

Additionally, blogs can display advertisements and generally have higher click-through rates on affiliate .
